The same year that Kivort Steel opened its doors - 1938 - the photocopier, Fiberglass, and ballpoint pens were invented. And a gallon of gas cost ten cents.
We are now a regionally recognized leader of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum products distribution, and we're celebrating our 70th anniversary this year. Kivort Steel is now run by the founder's grandson, Robert Kivort, and his partner Mikhail Polishchuk.
"The reason we've been such a solid business for so many years is because we are constantly adjusting to meet our customers' needs," explained Kivort. "When my grandfather started the business in Cobleskill in 1938, he sold only scrap metal and had no physical office space. Today, we no longer sell scrap, and we're a full-service steel warehouse and distribution center. And we remain steadfastly committed to customer service."
Some of Kivort Steel's customers have been with them for 40 years.
We have numerous special events planned in 2008 to celebrate its 70th anniversary, including unveiling its new logo, challenging customers to match a community charitable donation, planting 70 trees in various communities, hosting a customer appreciation day, offering education workshops to children about the various uses of steel and increasing its underwriting of community events.
Headquartered in Waterford, NY, and founded in 1938, Kivort Steel provides customers with cost-effective solutions for their metal needs. Fabricators, construction companies, industrial companies and the individual customer all rely on Kivort Steel's expertise to facilitate their businesses. We deliver our products within a 150-mile radius of Waterford.
