Aluminum Pipe : Aluminum Pipe - Schedule 40
Alloy and Temper: 6061-T6
The schedule of a pipe refers to the thickness of the wall of the pipe based on NPS or Nominal Pipe Size. This is often incorrectly referred to as National Pipe Size, which actually does not exist. The main difference between tubing and piping is size. The size of piping is nominal, which is a relative size based on OD and thickness. Either ID or OD is used to measure tubing and the size given is exact. The wall thickness and properties are based on the NPS tables. An NPS 10 Sch 40 pipe is a 10-inch pipe with a .365-inch wall thickness. Schedule 40 is often called low-pressure pipe.
