Carbon Steel : Bar Grating
Bar grating is a fabricated steel section comprised of rows of load bearing bars, which run across the width or span of the section, and cross bars which tie the lead bearing bars together. The strength of the grating is determined by the size of the bearing bars (depth x width) and the spacing between the bearing bars in each section. The strength is given in pound per square foot load being ability. This load rating is for the section itself independent of the support structure. A 24 x 60 grating with a rating of 10-lb/sq foot means the section can carry an evenly distributed 100lb load.
