Carbon Steel : Floor Plates (Diamond Plates)
Floor plates or diamond plates are used for walking surfaces on steel structures. The term diamond plates refer to the pattern embossed into the surface to prevent slipping when walking on the plates. Floor plates and diamond plates are not themselves considered structural parts; structural members normally support steel plate floors. Floor plates and diamond plates can be readily machined, drilled and welded to facilitate attachment to structural members. They are sized by steel gage and fractional size thickness and by sheet size. 16Ga 30 x 96 would be a 16 gage 30” x 96” diamond floor plate.
