Carbon Steel : Hot Rolled/Cold Rolled Sheets

Hot Rolled sheets are thin rolled carbon steel sheets from 18 gage (.048”) to 7 gage .179”). They are available in various length-width combinations from 24” to 48” wide by 96” to 144” long. These They may be bent over on themselves cold with no cracking and may be welded. These sheets are useful for a large range of products that are fabricated or stamped. Uses include ductwork, steel fabricated partitions, cover and access panels in automotive, heavy duty and agricultural machinery.

Cold rolled sheets are thin rolled carbon steels sheets from 28 gage (.015”) to 10 gage (.135”). Cold rolled sheets are more ductile than hot rolled sheets and are therefore better suited to severe forming or drawing when working the sheets. Cold rolled sheets resist cracking, and form more consistently than hot rolled making them more suitable for precision forming applications. Carbon sheets are sized by thickness and by length and width dimensions.
