
Carbon Steel : Junior Beams
Junior Beams are also called M Beams. These are smaller beams than wide flange or structural I beams. The depths range from 6” to 12” with flange widths from approximately 1.8” to 3inches, which is not considered structural. The flange thickness from around .112in to .175 in. Beams are listed tabular, by the flange depth and weight. “W” Beams are listed lightest (thinnest web) to thickest (web) A beam M6x4.4 would be 6-inch depth 4.4 lbs per foot.
