Carbon Steel : Standard Channels

Standard channels are also known as C channels. The C channels designation because they are singly symmetrical (1/2 of an I beam), giving a “C” shaped profile. Standard Channels are stocked in standard structural sizes or 3inches or greater on any dimension other than the length. . As with I beam, C channels have 16-2/3% slope on the flanges. The depth and the weight per foot designate channels. A” C” channel designated C5x 9 would be a 5 inch depth by 9 lbs per foot
